Meanwhile back at the lab... Clarinspect were lucky enough to visit the CDHB’s Fire Wall at the Design Lab last week! This wall allows the Christchurch District Health Board’s (CDHB’s) Passive Fire Manager, Simon Hemmings, to put the Passive Fire installers to the test to ensure the quality of work they produce is up to the rigorous standards required for a hospital. Once the installers work is deemed up to standard then that installer can do work on the numerous CDHB sites. They also gain access to the Clarinspect passive fire install app which is used across all CDHB sites. When we arrived, Jim Nisbet, Sales & Project Manager at Nimbl, gave the Clarinspect team a warm welcome and introduced us to Melvin and Hugo, the technicians that were working at the practice site. Jim took us through the various Passive Fire test situations that the Fire Wall construction site contained. He discussed some of features that make up the different tests that technicians like Melvin and Hugo were set to test their Passive Fire installing skills before they go out onto a CDHB site. We got to see many of the products we know by name put to use, which was very interesting! To test the technicians’ skills at the Fire Wall, odd items could be found in peculiar positions in their test situations, like a cable tray being on an angle for example. While this would rarely happen on site, it is a good test of the technicians’ skills as they have to find a solution to the problem and seal it. As well as active scenarios, there were also dummy scenarios set up which were not to be sealed as they were there to test the technicians’ knowledge in identifying what needed to be sealed or not. Jim took the time to give Clarinspect a tour through some of the materials that Nimbl uses in their work, including a pipe they use regularly that is one of Nimbl’s own designs. Jim said that there were many opportunities popping up everywhere in Wellington and that the next year was looking very busy and exciting for Nimbl Group. It was an exciting afternoon expedition for Clarinspect! A big thank you to Jim and the team! Guest User7 December 2020Comment Facebook0 Twitter LinkedIn0 Reddit Tumblr Pinterest0 0 Likes
